Jessica Lunsford was a sweet innocent child.Her favorite color was purple and according to her mother she always kept her room clean. Unfortunately repeat sex offender John Couey took her life away, molesting her and burying her alive. Her family and many Floridians were left to mourn and ask WHY! They then turned toward action and put in place series of laws that where not in place that night when John Couey took little Jessica from her home which would have prevented Jessica\'s tragic death. Those laws included: 1) A minimum of 25 years mandatory sentence for sexual offenders of children under 13 years 2)Residency restriction zones for high risk child sex offenders 3)A minimum of 3 years mandatory prison sentence for those who knowingly harbor and protect child sex offenders from Justice. These Laws became known as the Jessica Lunsford Act, and has spread across America with over 40 states passing it into law. However, New Jersey has FAILED to do so. It has been introduced in both the Assembly and the Senate but has never been brought up for a vote so it has never become law!
