Where are parental rights in this ? But even discounting this (not from what I’ve read should this happen ) but where is freedom of religion???

Teaching kids about Orthodox Faith doesnt mean brain-washing them! This father deserves to practice his faith and if the child wants to practice as well isnt any problem. Freedom of choosing what to believe and use native language is a right of any person
on Earth! The judge wasnt well informed or she is biased in her decisions for a unthinkable reason. C' mon, judge, it is natural to pass to your kids what you know.

Sadly we are living in the end times, where the good and truth is considered insane and the evil is considered normal. Christ won’t leave those who truly stand for the truth of Orthodoxy. Justice will prevail as Christ is Risen+ all those who persecute Christians will tremor at their judgment if they don’t run Now to true repentance! Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on us sinners+

This child has been raised Orthodox since she was born. There is no reason her upbringing has to change because he parents are no longer married. She was baptized Orthodox and there was not a problem with this when it was chosen when she was a baby, there should be no problem no as she grows up. The term for this continuation of upbringing is "status quo", I think Antonios will have a good argument using this in defense of her continued upbringing in religious and ethnic issues.

I know Antonios and Mary, personally, and they have always exhibited a healthy relationship with each other, and the community. He is a very caring and attentive father.

Antonios and Mary are personal friends of our family. We love and are praying for them. I just can't wrap my head around this heartbreaking, unbelievable situation. I am shocked that this is possible in America where our religious freedom is supposed to be protected by laws and the Constitution of the United States...especially that of a biological father??? Lord have mercy!

This is outrageous. This judge should make herself informed and be aware that the Orthodox Christian religion is a lifestyle (not a church you only experience on Sundays) that goes hand in hand with many Greek traditions. Furthermore, it is extremely family oriented and believes a child's life begins at conception. There is nothing abusive or wrong with fasting, prayer or meditation as they have been shown clinically to have many physical and psychological benefits. As a Greek Orthodox mother myself I am deeply troubled the judge would make her ignorance of world wide customs and religions, as well as her apparent intolerance of other cultures so public. In a world were there is a proliferation of absentee fathers, the courts should be more encouraging to a father looking to play an active role in his child's life.
