I believe the daughter will need her Father for the rest of her life, I hope the judge can be patient and help the girl to grow up and help her to be able to practice her own freedom of religion and speech so she may have the space and time to grow into a healthy person. For the dad, please have mercy on him, he is an immigrant, it’s really hard already to pass down your culture in a different culture. He is a dad, an orthodox Christian, that’s all he can do is hope his daughter will remember who she is when she grows up.

My relatives came from England in 17th and 18th centuries. I married a Greek PhD. student who became an American citizen. I wanted to become an Orthodox Christian and also studied Greek. Then I was the one who took our children to church and taught them Greek. Two stayed Orthodox and one did not. Give Mary the chance to learn both cultures/religions and let her decide when she becomes an adult. That is what it means to be an American.

If this is all true, it is a terrible reflection on Religious Freedom in America. Many children are brought up in religiously mixed families, and the fact that the parents are divorced doesn't mean that each one can't expose the child to his or her beliefs, just not bad-mouth the other beliefs. Ultimately the child will grow up (possibly a bit confused, but even children raised with a single set of beliefs have things to sort out) and need to make her own decision. I have known Orthodox Christians married to or divorced from Jewish spouses, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Christian Scientists, as well as Catholics and Protestants. They make it work so that the child is brought up with respect for all the religious traditions. No one parent should force his or her beliefs on the other, nor deny the child the chance to experience both parents' faiths.

Please let this man free. It is very disappointing and injustice whats happening to this man. This is not fair at all as the judge is only listening to the mothers side.
