Islington Trades Union Council congratulate our MP on becoming leader of the Labour Party and Reclaiming the party back to its members.Through years and years of grass rooted campaign work, and working with community groups,Trade unions, the peace movement and anti austerity groups,Jeremy Corbyn is bringing politics back home to the people.
The failed concept of "New Labour"and its top down approach, its distancing itself from Trade unions, caused much damage to our wider movement.Time for change,Lets be confident and come together, and stand with a Labour party under Corbyn and take on this Tory Government. Our Tome Has come!

Finally a Labour leader we can
believe in! He has a clear mandate to lead the party and the PLP should rally behind his anti-austerity policies.

Jeremy is a refreshing change to the establishment's delusional power structure, which is causing so much harm to so many families up and down Britain. We have to fight, not only for our inalienable rights as human beings, but also for any true equality we want to see within our society. Jeremy is frightening those on the right because they know that so many people are seeking change - real change. We have to take back that which has been stolen from us - our very humanity and Jeremy Corbyn is the man that can make that happen. He has become a powerful symbol of hope for the vast majority of people in this country. We have to ignore the puerile newspapers and the vacuous, biased BBC. They are a dying media, as so many people turn to internet for their news about what is really going on in the world.

It's hugely dispiriting that this petition is even necessary, it just underlines the lack of respect in some quarters for true democratic process. The people have spoken. We want Corbyn. We need him to lead a strong opposition to austerity and the unfair cuts and policies implemented in its name by the Conservatives and the coalition

This does not imply total agreement with Corbyn's policies. He has yet to realise that EU free movement is as destabilising as war. Whole sections of the working class are ahead of him here.

Austerity is an amoral political choice. QE has protected the rich bankers from the consequences of their own actions and resulted in the nationalisation of their debt and the privatisation of their profit. We the people need to take back control of the economy for the benefit of the 99%.

Jeremy Corbyns election should be seen as a clear indication of the rejection of Blairite type policies within the Labour party and an equally clear rejection of austerity and the policies of government. There is now an urgent need for Trade Unions to grasp the opportunity for a real fight back against the Tories and organise strike days and protests on a continuous basis to stop the cuts and privatizations.

It is crucial that the parliamentary section of the Labour Party (the only part of the party that didn't overwhelmingly endorse Jeremy Corbyn) be made to respect the clear democratic mandate he has for his anti-austerity and foreign policy viewpoints. In a democracy it should not be off-limits to be anti-monarchy and to not support the British state's interpretation of their history of colonial wars and occupations and how to categorise those who resisted them.

How strange that someone who epitomizes what the vast majority of people voted for should be "attacked in this way". What are they scared of?

I have a photo of Jeremy Corbyn holding a Frack Free Scarborough sign. Let's make sure he knows we are behind him and give him the support to stick to his principles and fend off the right. Remember what happened to Tsipras and Syriza, and let's not let that happen here.
