Dedham Taxpayers for Responsible Spending - "Stop The Rail Trail"

I am opposed to the Rail Trail proposal. I believe that Dedham should impose a moratorium on all unnecessary spending for at least two years. We already have the highest real estate taxes of all the surrounding communities and have yet to see the true cost of all the spending that has occurred over the past few years. I do not understand the rush to judgment for this project. CPA was being sold as a great gift. Dedham voters turned it town by an overwhelming margin. (59-41). In truth CPA is an unsustainable Ponzi scheme. Boston voted it in last year and raised 16 million dollars in new real estate taxes. They received 2.4 million as a match approximately 15%. We can thank the Dedham voters for being educated and not indoctrinated. I am certain, given the opportunity to vote on a ballot they would make the same choice as they did with CPA

Please read the Feasibility Studies that have been done to date and you will see this 1.3 mile trail to nowhere is not needed. Instead, let's focus on Striar property development that will enhance the entire town.

This has so many issues, where do I start? First off, most all of the direct abutters are against it including commercial businesses. It is so not worth the price tag for the size of it. Emergency access and parking are not in the price tag as of yet. It brings more congestion to an already over-congested DHS and Avery parking lot. It spills into school parking lots- which could raise student safety. There are many other options that would be better for the ENTIRE community.

Its a very bad idea to add an access route for out of town potential trouble. Its very hard to swallow ant extra cost for all that risk. We need to listen to abutters first.

I do NOT support exploring the approval of the proposed transformation of the 1.4 mile abandoned rail line, which extends from East Street at Avery Street, along Whiting Avenue to the end of River Street at Quincy Street – continuing through the Hyde Park section of Boston.

This rail trail will not enhance the Dedham neighborhood!

There is much more upfront deliberation and evaluation that should be done on the idea of a 1.4 mile rail trail before tens of thousands of dollars are spent on a study of the traffic at trail access points. Dedham has many more pressing needs.

This is something Dedham DOES NOT need..will cause a lot of problems in the long run...

There are many more things that this town should be spending money on. This is a trail to a dead end. Lastly, I do not want this going behind my house.

My property abbuts where the rail trail will be going. I I have multiple trucks and other construction equipment in my yard that I do not want vandalized, damaged or have anything stolen. I know it would only be a matter of time before bores teenagers cause issues on this trail. I know because I was one of those bores teenagers and I walked that trail as a kid causing a ruckus.
