The city council finally voted to remove those statues and began the work of addressing the laws that stripped us of our dignity. I am overwhelmed by the support of the 318 people who walked this path with me because you proved that our humanity is not up for debate. …

We’ve heard people say “we’re going to walk until these statues are down”. I hope you agree that removal of the confederate statues should be only one of the things we demand before the protesting stops. There are many organizations making demands, but these are the demands of the people. We demand to be treated with HUMANITY! We demand to be treated with love, compassion, and human kindness.

With that in mind, the demands set forth in this Declaration of Humanity, calls for people of color who are suffering from unfair and misguided laws, to be dignified. We are tired of being disrespected and mistreated.

All people should be with us to make this stand, not just people of color. Everyone should want just and fair treatment for all people.

Watching this count climb reminds me that so many of you feel this pain as deeply as I do. We need a final surge to reach our next target so those in power cannot ignore our call for basic human dignity. Please send this link to your circle right now because we need more people to join this fight today.

Seeing these names stack up keeps me going when the grief feels overwhelming. We are almost at one hundred signatures so please send this link to a few people who need to see our demand for simple human dignity.

It's abhorrent that such blatant discrimination and bias has been inflicted on people of color across the United States for so long. We need to start showing those in power that we will not accept this treatment, and will not stop until we see a change.

About time. These statues are just a symbol of all the other garbage people have had to deal with for way too long. Keep pushing.

I fully support this movement and I think it’s wonderful to see such a well formed piece of literature like this regarding injustice and ideas for reformations.
