Dec. 2025 pinning ceremony request
The pinning ceremony is a cherished tradition for nursing students and an unforgettable milestone that marks the transition from student to practicing nurse. As we prepare for our pinning ceremony in December 2025 , we are requesting the option to wear our hair down during this significant event.
Furthermore, wearing hair down does not pose any health or safety risks during the ceremony, and many professional settings within the healthcare industry accept such hairstyles. It is an opportunity to align the pinning ceremony with current industry standards and fashion norms.
We understand the importance of maintaining a level of professionalism and decorum; however, we believe that allowing more freedom in how we present ourselves does not compromise these values. We urge the STC Nursing School administration and ceremony coordinators to reconsider the existing guidelines and permit hair to be worn down, if so chosen by the students.
By signing this petition, you are supporting our request to express our individuality and cultural identity during our special day without restrictions. Let's make our pinning ceremony in McAllen a celebration of personal expression and professional achievement. Please sign and help us bring about this necessary change.
