The Livery Industry is now an integral part of New York City’s economic engine. Thanks to base owners and drivers, who for the most part have worked as a team to make this industry the success it is today. Yet the road to this success has not been an easy one. It is has been paved with blood and tears. There are base owners who have had many sleepless nights and stressful days. For several years many of us could not afford to take the vacations or holidays that most other business owners took for granted. We have made years of sacrifice to build this industry. The vast majority of us are immigrants who had little or no access to credit or loans. We had to take the risk of mortgaging our homes in order to establish and sustain our Base. In the process, many of us have lost our house and in some cases family. It is unfortunate and deeply disturbing that after all sacrifices that we have made as small community business men and women, one or a few multi-billion corporations can be allowed to use their infinite economic wealth and unabated influence to crush local small that have been part of our communities for over thirty years. We are part of that web of small community business that pay tax, employ the locals and provide personalized services to our community. We appeal to our local elected officials not to allow this to happen. We are part of the economic engines of our community, we are your constituents. We call upon you our elected representatives to work with us and to pass legislations that protect the community car service (local bases) from the economic piracy that is being embarked on by companies like UBER and Lyft.

You built a system and we complied. Then an idea comes along and we are scorned. Beware unintended consequences.

TLC IS A DICTATORSHIP AND DRIVERS NOR BASE OWNERS HAVE ANY SAY IN THEIR DECISIONS. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL MAKE SOME TYPE OF IMPACT.
