The question I would like Stonewall to address is: how does our call to recognise and discuss our differences as all sorts of 'women' (black, lesbian, disabled, trans, queer, straight, mothers, workers, activists, prisoners) and what that might mean for our struggles for freedom and justice mean that we are negating the right TO EXISTENCE of trans women?

Women’s rights matter

Gender is a social construct. Sex is real. Women are more than lipstick and dresses. Wearing same does not make a man a woman. Womens' rights matter.

This is about protecting women's rights

You can't change sex. Men cannot be "real women" and women cannot be "real men - biological facts. It's that simple, or it should be!!!

WE NEED A FULL DEBATE NOW - MANY ORGANISATION SEEM TO BE ACCEPTING THE SELF IDENTITY ALREADY WHICH IS VERY WORRYING -

It is not phobic to raise in a friendly way a matter of genuine public concern in the context of a statutory consultation - where that concern is based on an interference with the rights and freedoms of others. Stonewall has this wrong.

Many have already articulated the current problem with Stonewall policies. Hear, hear !

It is wrong to try to bully into silence alternative views to your own in particular when the rights of women and girls to safe women only spaces is at risk.

Stonewall is standing for misogyny and homophobia

The rights of women and children must be acknowledged, and freedom to speak out is a basic human right. Stonewall used to be a vanguard movement for our rights. Thank you for bringing this very important petition.

I want to know why stonewall will not engage in the argument that the rights of women will be massively compromised by the GRA.

I am so dismayed at the statement from Stonewall/ Ruth Hunt today re this petition and how the organisation is refusing to look at valid concerns expressed. The implications of extreme transgender ideology and self ID on the safety and privacy of women and girls is of vital importance and should be thoroughly looked at before any changes to law take place. Stonewall's refusal to even acknowledge potential problems and instead to dismiss women as transphobic is shocking. Additionally Stonewall's refusal to stand up for the bullying and harassment of lesbians, being told they must accept males, who ID as women, as prospective partners is disgraceful. Where is your integrity Stonewall? Ruth Hunt's management of this issue should be under examination immediately. I fully support this petition.

These debates need to happen. End this misogyny and homophobia now. Unbelievable that this even needs saying.

Trans women have the right to exist, to live in peace and comfort, they do not have the right to infringe on women’s rights.

I am a long time supporter of Stonewall, campaigner on Stonewall issues, and lifelong woman. I have commissioned work by trans and non-binary artists, hosted discussions, debates and events which celebrate our right to present ourselves as we wish, and built gender neutral toilets. I now find that any discussion or debate about the dynamic between sex and gender is dismissed as 'transphobic'. I am not transphobic: I am against discrimination and prejudice. But I am acutely aware of how sex is a fact of life and the locus of discrimination and oppression. The current policies of Stonewall enable some of the demands of the trans activists to add to this minority status by seeking to remove women's 'safe spaces' based on sex. My femaleness exists as a physical and biological fact. I am especially concerned that Stonewall has sought to encourage children to respond to the consultation, and apparently endorsed the Mermaids doctrine of promoting transing without parental knowledge or involvement. I believe that Stonewall's intervention and lobbying here is unethical transgresses your boundaries as a charity. Lastly, I am deeply angered by the attack on Free Speech that the notion of 'transphopia' has engendered. Open the debate, listen to what people have a right to say, protect their right to say it, a debate is not hate-speech.

Trans rights issues have far exceeded the needs and rights of other people in the LGBT community. We all need fair consideration and representation. Trans has over shadowed the rest of us for too long now. Please can the rest of us have our rights back?

Support this - but sadly anonymously - for fear of intimidation and retribution by people who don't want to allow women's legitimate concerns to be voiced.

Of course transgender rights are important, but so are women's rights. In some areas there is a conflict, and we need to be able to discuss this openly and constructively to find a resolution that treats everyone equitably. We cannot do this in the current climate of #NoDebate and branding anyone with concerns; no matter their sexuality or gender identity a bigot.
