This bill must pass. We need tougher common-sense laws to put an end to drunk, drugged and impaired driving. My 12 year old son Andrew McMorris was killed by a drunk driver and what happened to him was 100% preventable. Our laws need to be stronger to prevent from future loved ones being killed or injured by this senseless crime.

As a retired Police Chief, I cannot express how important this is. No matter what the substance that is impairing the driver is, we should not be making it more difficult for law enforcement to do their job and keep the public safe from being killed our roadways. We need to arms these officers and prosecutors and give them the ability to save lives.

Impairment is impairment - and the means by which it is achieved should be irrelevant. Law enforcement, and the interests of Justice, have too long been hampered by outmoded and outdated legal standards. We need to join other US States and foreign nations in recognizing that the impaired driver is a deadly danger no matter what the cause of their impairment.

As a retired LEO, I know how important this is. Impaired driving regardless of the drug is extremely dangerous. If you want to hear from victims and their families about the devastating loss, I would be happy to arrange that for you.

When Colorado legalized marijuana in 2012, the death rate of those with THC positivity in driving fatalities more than doubled in 10 years.

Drug impairment may be more harmful in degrees than over use of alcohol.

With the increase of prescription, legal and illegal drugs we must have this bill to take impaired drivers off our roads. Families who loose loved ones due to impaired drugged drivers are never the same. Please pass S.3135/A.174

Every day people are getting away with driving while impaired just because a police officer ca not say exactly what drug the defendant ingested regardless of how clearly impaired the driver appears. Innocent people need to be protected from impaired drivers.

It is imperative that this be signed into law. Drugged driving is dangerous and deadly, no matter what the drug.

Drugs are just as dangerous or worse then drinking and driving.
