Yes, this will be helpful and is a fire hazard.

I support the removal of as many dead juniper and other dead trees as possible in the greenbelts behind our neighborhood. My home backs to the Barton Creek greenbelt, and the dead vegetation there is an accident waiting to happen. Preventive action by TCCSA is long overdue.

My husband and I are in agreement. According to the meeting we attended on this issue, there is no environmental benefit to retaining these trees and much potential danger to the neighborhood.

Why not get rid of them?? Such a fire hazard so close to our homes.

Dear Petitioners, I wish I had good news. Unfortunately, we are experiencing a lengthy delay due to the Texas Forestry Service not yet delivering the Hazardous Fuels Assessment (they said it would be ready in November 2014). The Forestry Service does not have any jurisdiction over our private property. Our greenbelts are fully owned by the residents of Travis Country. And it’s our desire to have the dead cedars removed. Please attend tomorrow's special board meeting: The January TC HOA Board meeting at Blue Valley office will be tomorrow, Wed. Jan. 19 at 6 pm. Our issue is on the agenda. I will be presenting documentation that the City Arborist does not regulate the removal of trees less than 18" in diameter. And from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality re: the Edwards Aquifer: "Regulated activity" does not include: the clearing of vegetation without soil disturbance; or routine maintenance that involves little or no change to the topographic or geologic features. We must not be frightened by threats of huge fines from people with no jurisdiction over us. I guess they think it’s funny that we’re waiting on the wheels of government. Well, I don’t think it’s funny at all. Do you? Please contact the Board of Directors and tell them to take action now. Let’s remove the dead cedars.

GOOD NEWS!! This motion was approved last night and the Firewise Committee has already sent a request to the Texas Forestry Service: MOTION: To request that Will Boettner TX Forest Service to perform a Hazardous Fuels Assessment, an Environmental Constraints survey, Management Plan, and Fuel Mitigation Project for Travis Country. By: Leonard Saenz 2nd: Amy Sasser Result: Unanimous We have forward movement and are hopeful that we'll be able to address our dead tree problem in the fall. Thanks to all for your support.

Our petition was presented to the board at the last HOA Board meeting in June, and tonight they will vote on it. Will Boettner from the Texas Forestry Service speaks at 6, homeowner comments at 7, so if you can make it, please be at the Blue Valley office and voice your opinion.
