DC Student Special Interest Group (SSIG) Petition
Hello DPT students of DC,
Alyssa Breslin, Paige Anderson and Nora Arnold have initiated the process of starting a DC Student Special Interest Group (SSIG) through the APTA.
There are many reasons to become involved in an SSIG, including, but not limited to the following:
- Networking: The SSIG will promote networking with students across programs and professionals in DC through meetings, happy hours, and other opportunities.
- Mentorship: The SSIG provides the opportunity to be a mentee to a professional or mentor to a younger student.
- Education: The SSIG will organize educational sessions and/or presentations to address student interests.
- Volunteer: Stay in the loop on volunteer opportunities in the DMV area.
- Newsletter: Updates on conferences, seminars, continuing education, and APTA events.
- And much more!
For more info on what an SSIG is and the benefits of membership, please visit: http://www.apta.org/CurrentStudents/Involvement/SS...
We presented the idea of starting the SSIG at the most recent DC Chapter meeting, and it was approved unanimously by DC Chapter members. Dr. Joshua Woolstenhulme has volunteered to step in as our official SSIG sponsor. Now we need to get student involvement, so PLEASE sign our petition if you are interested in becoming involved.
As we are in the early stages of developing the SSIG, we would love to receive feedback. What would you like from an SSIG membership?
If you have any questions or you are interested in becoming more involved in the process of getting the SSIG started, please reach out to us at alyssanbreslin@gwu.edu and paigeanderson@gwu.edu. You may also contact APTA DC Core Ambassador Nora Arnold at aptasa.coredc@gmail.com to learn about all the ways you can become involved in APTA.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Breslin, Paige Anderson, and Nora Arnold
