Davidson Cares about Fair Trade brings together community groups, businesses, and individuals to raise awareness of and promote Fair Trade in Davidson. We are currently working to make Davidson a Fair Trade Town by meeting five criteria: forming a steering committee; conducting outreach to area retailers; engaging the community; gaining media attention, and passing a Fair Trade resolution.
By signing you are saying: "Yes, I support Davidson Cares about Fair Trade in their campaign to make Davidson a Fair Trade Town! I believe that Fair trade enhances the livelihood opportunities of producer & artisan communities in the developing world and is integral to a sustainable global marketplace."
The Town Council continues to stall while the exploitation of artisans remains the status quo in our global supply chain. They think our silence means we will go away but we are just getting started on forcing them to adopt these ethical standards.

The local leadership has been dodging our calls for months but this surge of momentum makes it impossible for them to ignore us any longer. We are forcing them to look at the unsustainable choices they continue to uphold while our town demands better. Stay angry because we are finally gaining the leverage we need to break through their wall of silence.

This would be so good for our shops. Love buying local but fair trade makes a huge difference for people making the goods.

Really hope we can get this passed. Its not that hard to pick products that treat workers right. Lets be a better town.
