typical short sighted DL management. Did the same in glasgow albeit with only 1 court being removed. Poorly managed process and they lost a lot of long term members as a result. Piss poor management. Good luck in changing their decision.

Instead of removing the squash courts David Lloyd should be looking at continuing the great work already being supported by its members and invest in it. Why not encourage gym floor users into this format of workout as studies show the drop out rate is significantly higher in gym floor users. Surely there’s better use of the already occupied gym area than to take over squash courts that have a strong program.

This would be ludicrous. I may no longer play squash but I value it as a great game.

My husband has played for years and has, in the last two years, introduced our two sons to the game. They have totally caught the squash bug and thoroughly enjoy the sport. By removing these courts you are removing a great activity for kids to be brought up and involved in. It builds so much confidence in children, it focuses their minds and let’s them exercise while doing something they love instead of sitting playing computer games and living a very sedentary life. PE in school nowadays is not how it used to be and to see our boys involved in an actual sport, makes me feel very proud as it does watching my husband play. Imagine how many generations of squash players that you currently have through your doors and how many further generations you have to come? Surely it makes more sense to retain an already flourishing sport and actually build on what Niall has already brought to your Centre. Do the right thing and actually get involved in building a great sport rather than losing members and making an epic mistake!

Very important to keep this sport going especially the amount of young talent coming through at the moment

All too familiar that "fitness training" is superceding sport as Epping has already suffered similarly. There should be room for both properly organised.

Safe the courts - all age groups are enjoying squash!! Do not take this healthy, stimulating and culturally important sport away from people!

Disgraceful behaviour from a sports club that is supposed to be pro racket sports.

Disgraceful

The squash teams at David Lloyd, Gidea Park are the most improved in Essex. Rather than closing their courts they should take the opportunity to promote both squash and the ever-growing racketball and be at the centre of something big once again!

There should be more squash not less, if they featured it in the Olympic series it would take off in a big way. Ideal sport for young people...

A similar decision has recently been made at DL Hampton.

I'm a David Lloyd member and it is a great shame to see a racquets club no longer supporting racquet sports and following the latest fads.
