District Attorney Tommy Thomas\'s resignation
July 15th, 2007 127 dogs/puppies were taken into protective custody from a puppy mill after a 2 month investigation. It took the Sheriff of the county 5 days to sign the citations(not warrants) on the owners of the puppy mill, James \"Bud\" and MaryJo Fair. There were 2 Veterinarians that examined these dogs and found something wrong with everyone one them, some infections in the eyes, ears and pad of their feet from standing on wire. Some puppies with Urine Scalding on their 4 week old bellies from lying in urine for days! Plus so much more. When it came time for their preliminary hearing, the District Attorney, Tommy Thomas, cut a deal with the Fairs attorney, Jim Powell and the Fair\'s Vet, Dr. Bob Page. The Judge in the case, Judge Morris did not see one piece of evidence, no pictures, no videos and no Vet reports. Neither of the Vets were even consulted about the case, only the puppy mill vet, Bob Page. Tommy Thomas did not uphold the state laws. These people, the Fairs should have been prosecuted on 127 animal cruelty charges. Tommy Thomas let them to back to the facility of Dr. Page, also where he has a laboratory, and then they went back to the same horrible conditions they came from. Dr. Page was to monitor them every 60 days for 6 months. The case was dismissed January 10th, 2008 and the Fairs went free. There are still complaints coming in to the Humane Society of Gibson-Obion County because the Judicial System under Tommy Thomas will not uphold the laws he was voted in and sworn to do. We feel he is not qualified for that position because of his lack of ethical behavior of not upholding the Animal Cruelty Laws of TN. Those dogs/puppies can be viewed on YouTube and all the evidence is still being held with the Humane Society to prove there is animal cruelty, abuse and neglect still continuing to this day.
