The Board of Education authorized limited fund raising for purposes of developing plans for the installation of stadium lighting on the football field at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Many in the community are concerned about the negative impact of stadium lighting and nighttime sporting events. Those concerns include noise in the quiet evening hours, light glare affecting city lights views, parking, traffic and pedestrian congestion, increased nighttime activities in the community, and loss of property values. The Peninsula Preservation Committee was formed to protect the interests of the community and we ask for you support our efforts by signing this petition. Petition: We, the undersigned, are 18 years of age or older, live within the boundaries of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, oppose the installation of stadium lights on the football field at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. We ask the Board of Education to rescind their authorization to raise funds and put an end to the stadium lights proposal.
