Dark Elegy is a poignant work of art that elicits powerful feelings in anyone blessed enough to stand in its presence. Syracuse has done so much to honor those lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. It seems the perfect place for Dark Elegy's permanent home. My husband William D. Giebler was killed in the bombing and I am so grateful to Suse for creating this sculpture which depicts the raw devastation of our loss.

Suse Lowenstein is a gifted artist, whose sculptures portray deep emotion and truth. Her work, Dark Elegy, is an unmatched gift of art, which portrays the deep angst of those whose loved ones died in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. Syracuse University's connection to Pan Am Flight 103, through its loss of 35 of its students, could not be a better permanent place to display this incredible artwork.

My sister, Martha Ives Owens, her husband and two daughters were all on PanAm 103. Dark Elegy is a powerful portrayal of the human costs of hate, and needs a home where it can be shared with the public. Syracuse University seems a very fitting place.

My brother Mark L.C.Tobin was among the 270 murdered that 8th day of Hannakah and 4 days before Christmas 1988, and maybe Fordham U. in the Bronx and Manhattan should have part of the memorial also since that is where he would have graduated from had he lived.
