The loss so tremendous has never been filled. To honor the living survivors and hold dear the victims is a responsibility of comportment and appreciation for how these events shaped the lives of so many.

Often think of Alex and all the other fellow students that fell victim to terrorism. What happened in Paris last week erupts the painful memory of Pan Am flight 103 tragedy. SU class of 1990

We are the parents of Alistair Berkley, who was killed in the Lockerbie disaster , on his way to spend Christmas with us in Manhattan, where we were then living.

A compelling remembrance.

This is an important piece of artwork and history. It would become an important part of the SU campus, and it belongs there.

My brother and his wife recently went camping on Montauk Point, knowing nothing about Dark Elegy or Alexander Lowenstein. They were so moved they returned twice. My daughter-in-law had been trained as a dancer and was astounded at the figures, and could only imagine the grief in those poses. Arts and Drama students at Syracuse University would have a similar reaction, and I hope that Dark Elegy finds a new home there.

My uncle Peter Petrisor Vulcu was a victim on Pan Am Flight 103.

This is a somber and moving representation of what all Mothers, Sisters, Wives, and Aunts shared when we got our news.

I agree strongly to have the Pan Am exhibit on the Syracuse Campus as 35 of the victims were SU students. I also find the location accessible for me to make a pilgrimage to visit my sister Denise who died of a broken heart two years after her son was killed on Pan Am 103. Suse Lowenstein's Dark Elegy is a monument to grief and the callousness of murder and terrorism. It is so important that this work is accessible to the public in a meaningful place, and there is no place more meaningful than the university that her son attended when he was killed along with 269 others in the senseless bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. It is this sculpture's raw, earth-shattering effect that I profiled it, and Suse's story, in a feature length documentary on the bombing, SINCE: THE BOMBING OF PAN AM FLIGHT 103. What's most important about Dark Elegy is that it transports the viewer into the moment of loss that is often felt in singular occurrences. This rare glimpse of pain allows one to look at the vast ripple effects that occur within a terrorist attack.

I am a Lockerbie Scholar from 2000-01 and it would be a fitting place that these sculptures find a permanent home at SU, as a living memorial.
