Railway Bridge Closure and Dangerous Detour

Please repair these roads. They are dangerous and I have to drive regularly on these roads to get to Bangalow and beyond.

Possum Creek Rd is often dangerous with speeding cars and corroded edges and potholes. Traffic management and maintenance is desperately needed particularly with the proposed increased traffic with Binna Burra bridge closure for upgrades

There will be many more drivers and there’s no alternative because to go further on Friday hut rd towards coolamon scenic rd is actually way way worse! In fact it would be great to fix that road too but the most common road will be possum creek rd since it connects to south also.

I have low profile tyres and sports rims. I have already done a tyre on potholes recently, I don't want to do another one whilst visiting family.

Dear Byron Shire Council, I am writing to request urgent repairs to Possum Creek Road, which has deteriorated significantly and now poses safety risks to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. The surface is riddled with potholes and uneven patches, making travel uncomfortable and potentially hazardous. Prompt maintenance would not only improve safety but also extend the road’s lifespan and reduce long-term repair costs. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I totally support and remedial work done to the mentioned roads which are in a dangerous state for everyday and tourist traffic- urgent remediation. Immediately required. Total road rebuild and resurfacing needed not spray on bitumen.

Fully endorse the concerns and comments above . Also floating the idea that the temporary opening of Dudgeons Lane be an option for discussion to lesson concentration of traffic on dangerous F riday Hut and Possum Creek Road

The increased traffic will add further damage to the already damaged roads, as stated in the petition, there are only a few sections in Possum Creek road where two cars can pass each other safely. Please do your due diligence before the road gets closed. Consideration is also required for Dudgeons lane, to ensure sections of the community are not isolated during heavy rain events.

I use Possum Creek Road every day. I have had several near miss accidents mostly caused by mostly visitors driving too fast and sitting in the middle of this narrow winding road. I have had damage to my car by being forced to swerve onto the degraded shoulder, where in some sections there are deep trenches. It is insafe for drivers and wildlife. There have been many koala deaths due to speed and lack of awareness on Posssum Creek and Friday Hut Road. Diverting more traffic to an already dangerous road lacks understanding and consideration for residents.

As a resident in the affected area I urge council to prioritise works on these sections - most specifically Possum Creek Road which is not fit to take the extra traffic and is in a poor state of repair Thank you

Friday Hut Road is a disgrace and needs urgent attention. It is highly dangerous and causes damage to cars driving on it.

FHR has been dangerously for way too long. Costing us all a fortune in tyres!
