By putting these limits on our music, our creativity is being limited. Teams and choreographers across the nation depend on what makes them different, and if everyone if forced to be the same, then why are we dancing? We dance to express and truly be ourselves. We are told to conform to society daily, and for many of us dance is the only place where we can show who we are, and who we want to be. Now we are asked to conform once again and have the same music, and therefore the same style of dancing as everyone else. It is unfair to the dancers, coaches, and choreographers that wish to compete with the best at UDA.

I am a parent of a dancer that has paid THOUSANDS of dollars towards Varsity brand uniforms and competitions over the past 6 years.
As a parent that pays the bills to attend your competitions, I will seriously consider pulling my dancer from her team or any team that attends your competitions if you insist on restricting the use of our own music.
The revenue you will lose with teams withdrawing from your competitions will far outweigh any costs you will incur to purchase music rights, etc.
If the issue is broadcasting the competition on TV.. that isn't important to us. You only showcase a few teams on TV anyway. And you dubbed over their original music this year. Do the same in the future if needed.

The music is what makes all routines so different from each other. If there is no originality, then music is useless. If this petition does not pass or UDA refuses to budge, I see many teams moving to NDA.

Music is apart of our routines. In every routine there are accents that go with certain moves. Taking away our rights for music takes away every teams style. There is a uniqueness to every song that is chosen. Specifically the team I was on our music was a huge part of our year. It gave us motivation and it had a personal story for us. If our music is taken away so is our story.

This is ridiculous. This eliminates the uniqueness of squads routines. This isn't necessary and should be changed.
