I hope that the school district will find a way to support your initiatives. Dance offers a unique opportunity for students to be physically active in a non competitive art form. Additionally, participants learn critical thinking, collaboration and creative problem solving in a dance class.
I am on orchesis and it would amazing if we could have dance education at school. Even if its not before we graduate i thinki future girls should have the opportunity. A dance room would be nice too that way we can see what we are doing wrong and we wont need to be distracted in the hallway.
Anyone who thinks dance is not physically challenging has never danced! What other subject/activity has the ability to exercises the body as well as the mind, spirit and soul? Please rethink plans to remove a dance program from the curriculum.
As an orchesis alumni I understand the value dance education could bring to HHS. Orchesis was the highlight of my time in high school and I can only hope others can experience the joy orchesis brought me
As a person that never was interested in participating in basketball or weight lifting, I would have LOVED to have the option to dance for gym. It's very good cardio, increases flexibility and gets the non-athletic kids like me to join in instead of sitting on the side.

I thouroughly enjoyed the dance PE classes that I took back when I was in high school at John Hersey HS District 214. I believe HHS needs to offer this option for students who may not be as athletically talented as others. Let's have as diverse a PE dept. as other districts are.
