Organization summary:

D.U.S.O will be providing a service that enables disadvantaged
students of the Philadelphia Public School District a opportunity to participate
in after-school and in-school extracurriclar activities that require a fee or
membership cost without ever worring about the expense of it all. Our
organization will help break-down the barriers which hinders a students from
reaching thier full potential. Offering students an opportunity to enhance a
talent or just simply find your hidden talents, requarless of their parents
lack of funding or support. D.U.S.O was established to encourage students
participation in extracurriclar activities in-school and after-school, not to
mention  helping thier school by
participating in all the fundraisers each school offers. Eventually, students
will begin setting goals and reaching achievements through commitment and persistance.

We encourage students to stay focused, stay out of trouble and take
part in their school activities, fundraisers, book sales, and youth groups.

The Mission of D.U.S.O is to serve our:

Future leaders of America

Opportunity to Advance

Commitment to our Children

Unity for our Community

Sucess in Life

Equal opportunity for All

Dedication and Determination

D.U.S.O wants to support students who are ambitious and motivated to
want more for themselves and change the outlook on their future. We want to
break the bad habits that lead our young children and teens to be influenced by
the gangs,  the streets, substance and
alcohol abuse, incarceration or even worse, death. In return, help build
stronger families and communities where children can be a positive rolemodel in
thier neighborhood. The students who participates in any extracurricular
activity can bulid character, confidence and integrity; qualities and
attributes that are needed in our society to be a produtive citizen of the
community.

Updates

November 10, 2010

I have been spending my evenings meeting with school administrators to map out how we can start clearing these financial hurdles for our students. Seeing the relief in the eyes of families who thought their children would be left out again proves why we must keep pushing forward.

November 10, 2010

Seeing this kind of momentum reminds me why I started DUSO when I saw so many kids in my own neighborhood left behind. This outpouring of support proves that we all believe these students deserve a chance to discover their talents without the burden of cost holding them back.

Every kid deserves a chance to play sports or join music clubs. money shouldnt be the reason they stay home. huge fan of this idea.
