The newspaper should print a full apology not tucked away in some obscure corner of the newspaper. They are perpetuating a stereotype that only men can succeed in science. We need more female role models who are renowned for expandings their minds and not their breasts!

This is disgraceful and sadly typical of the Daily Mail.

I'm a UCL Astrophysics graduate (2002) and I thought the academics on Newsnight were excellent interviewees. The DM piece was completely un-called for and totally wrong.

I live in hope that the day will soon come when the Daily Mail has its News of the World moment.

The blatant ignorance, racism and sexism by the Daily Mail were highly unprofessional and quite disgraceful. The people they criticised are two exemplary scientists and leading authorities in their field, that the Daily Mail finds it accetable to belittle them and ignore their qualifications must be answered for!

Thank you for setting up this petition - it is important to get an official apology else the Daily Mail will think it can get away with perpetuating a stereotype that is both wrong and offensive.

Once again, the Mail shows its reactionary, sneering colours. It needs to change and an apology would be a good start.

I'm appalled that such comments were made. Doesn't the Daily Mail realise most of its readers are female!

Why haven't they already apologised? It was unapologetically racist and sexist, and also completely inaccurate. Wat is there to defend?

Outrageous but unsurprising. Who will take the Mail to task?

The Daily Mail has demonstrated its pedigree and past history of prejudiceand outdated attitudes. Above all it has shonwn how its narrow minded, blinkered approach leaves it unable to address key current issues of our day. Wake up Daily Mail and join the 21st century!!

Shocking. But sadly predictable from that trash comic.

Sad to have to continue the Sisyphean task of rolling the turd that is the Daily Mail back up the hill on an increasingly frequent basis. Please join the 20th century and then, once you're ready, perhaps join the rest of us in the 21st. Unless it is the 22nd by then, in which case you can probably ask someone to help.
