To have physical education so limited is disturbing. It is important to grow their physical and mental development. PE allows kids to learn how to build teams, work together, bond, vent....all very important tools to learning how to socialize. The reduction of PE (i can only imagine) does not promote a healthy lifestyle, but impacts kids weight, and physical health in a negative way. This needs to change

Even most working adults are required to take two 15 minutes breaks during a work day -- why not children?

Totally understand this could add to the school day and throw off schedules...however this practice of reducing physical activity and not activating the creative side of brain (music/art) is counterproductive to not only their development but to long-term successful habits in overall life! If we are teaching them to cram work and not take adequate breaks and explore all sides of their brains...who will?

One of the reasons we moved out of the district. I was shocked to learn that the district didn't have daily PE and recess when we attended the open house for kindergarten! We moved immediately. Our district now has daily recess and PE. Sometimes twice a day recess on super nice days.

Yes! We moved here towards the end of my oldest daughter's first grade year. She went from two recesses a day, plus regular gym times, to two recesses a week! I wasn't surprised when she started having problems focusing and sitting still in class!

Every kid, every day.
