Not only is this important for development of young children socially, but also helps them develop intellectually. This also is a topic that helps people buying houses choose school districts if they are between two.

Can't believe that daily recess has been denied to my grandchildren and all the other children in D46, when their parents had it when they were in school. Why go backward instead of forward to children's physical, mental, social and overall well-being that recess provides?

Students should be required to have out door play. As well like grownups they are required to take fresh air to refresh their minds.

Outdoor recess will not only help children learn better and stay more focussed in the classroom but will also curb the continuing increase in childhood obesity and other epidemic health issues. The system has gradually and systematically removed students' opportunities to simply be kids again through play, exercise and independence.

As a former teacher - before staying home with little ones - I can say kids need this in their day - everyday. The kids who need it the most - the ones who act out - will only act out more. They should have a min of 30 min. Possibly split into two 15 min segments

I was shicked to learn how little recess our kids are getting. This is a travesty and with the amount of property taxes we pay, we should have had full recess, music, art, etc. the entire time.

Let's give our kids better than we had. Teach them to be active, not sedentary! Free the children! :)
