My husband and I are separated and unfortunately we filed our last joint return in 2007. The total tax due was $56,000.00 I paid approximately $30,000 of that taxes and left the remaining $26,000 for him to pay as part of his liabiliaty. He has not paid it and the appeal office indicated that I should pay it since I seem to have the means to do so. I protest that simply because I think he should be responsible for his own taxes and that the tax department should seek payment from him and not me.
