Great news! Fr. Joseph Mary will be celebrating the Tridentine mass at Holy Comforter, on January 10th at 3:00 PM, and on January 24th, at the same time. According to Father, these two masses will be to "test the waters," and gauge interest. If we have a good showing both times, then masses will continue. So I urge everyone, if they are in town and available, to attend these two masses! A couple of additional items. First, we will need altar boys. If any of the men or your sons are interested in serving, please contact Father. Father's email is: [email protected]. He will be holding a training session some time in December. Second, if anyone has any skills with building or woodwork, please email me. We need an altar step/platform to place in front of the altar. The way the altar is constructed currently, Father will have no place to stand and offer mass. Father envisions, essentially a movable wooden platform that can be placed in the sanctuary for these masses, and removed for other masses offered at Holy Comforter. Lastly, Holy Comforter is in need of a number of liturgical items so that mass can be properly offered. This includes altar bells, candlesticks for high and low mass, and missalettes with the ordinary of the mass for congregation. While items are not cheap, if we all pitch in, we should not have any trouble covering the cost. I will send out a second email in the coming days with specifics on the exact amount we need, which items we will be purchasing, and how to donate. I have sent out an email with the same information. Going forward, however, I would prefer to only use email. So please email me ([email protected]) if you would be interested in receiving any further updates. I only have a few email addresses, but we received many signatures. If you have any comments, questions or concerns feel free to email either myself or Father. I hope to see everyone on January 10! Best, Peter

I am beyond happy with this news. Although I have never attended the Tridentine Mass, I have always longed for the Mass of the Ages. I do wear my veil to Mass and only remember as a little girl playing with my mother's veils at home since she no longer wore them (back in 1970). Thank you Blessed Mother and Our Lord Jesus for answering our prayers!!!

Latin is the universal language of our Mother Church! Help us connect through prayerful participation in the beautiful continuity of our liturgy by permitting the Extraordinary form. Don't just trim the leaves of a vine for fruit--water her roots!

I went to a Tridentine Mass at St. Joseph's in Richmond and it was a powerful, life changing experience! Please, please, please can we have it here too? It will greatly strengthen faith and reverence for the Eucharist. This is what Pope Benedict intended when he spoke of liturgical "cross-pollination."
