The Board of Education decided to keep our custodial staff and I am still in shock that this actually happened. You all showed up and stood by these workers when it mattered most. Please keep an eye on things just to be sure this stays exactly as it is.

Attention Alexandria Township Parents: The Alexandria Township Board of Education is considering putting your children at risk. They want to fire our school's custodians and instead, hire strangers to be around your children. Firing these employees and replacing them with strangers puts your childrens safety at risk. Private companies historically hire workers with little to no experience working in schools or with children. Furthermore, while state law requires anyone who works in schools to be fingerprinted, this process can take up to 90 days to conduct. Districts can even have people begin working before a background check is complete. This means someone may be employed in our schools and working around your children before discovering that he or she has a record. We understand the need to explore cost savings options, but refuse to support any measure that does so at the expense of our children. We also firmly believe that a child's safety is priceless, even in these economic times. Our members know and care about your children. Will for-profit companies feel the same? Can we really afford to bring strangers in the schools with your children? Keep our kids safe by signing this petition and attending the December 15th Board of Education meeting in the AMS Library to stop this process!

I am honestly overwhelmed by how quickly this message has spread through our community. This momentum belongs entirely to the parents who refused to look the other way regarding our children's safety.

Disgraceful. The board needs to prioritize student safety over saving a few bucks. Leave the staff alone.

WHY are we even considering this? These workers have been with the district for years and do a great job. Our children rely on them.

My kids know the custodial staff by name and they are like family. You cant replace that with some random person from a company. Bad idea.

Keep our schools safe. We already pay enough in taxes.
