As a homeowner in Culver City, CA, I ask you to please vote NO on SB 9 and SB 10. I don't believe plowing down residential homes in areas with families with children and building multi-units in R-1 areas will solve our density problems. We have very little lots as it is (5,100 square feet) which we bought for our growing family only to be surprised by a drastic change of zoning laws. R-1 purchasers in 1991 did not want to be surrounded by multi-units and paid higher prices to be R-1. There's must be some Grandfather clause to exempt those of us over a certain age from living in denser areas. Many of us want to know why those of us who purchased in R-1 areas for safety of our families must now pay the price for inefficient city planners. I'll want a refund on my property price and taxes from the state if I am forced into living in an area zoned for R-3/R-4 which I did not choose or pay for. Rethink. Please understand your citizens and constituents and VOTE NO on SB 9 and SB10. Thank you . Respectfully, Kyle Flick

Keep Culver City R-1. No on AB9 and AB10. This is NOT "Inclusive", it's a developers money grab. Commissioner Dana Sayles has the best plan. Get a big tract of land to build 75 to 100 unit of affordable housing. NOT in residential neighborhoods.

WE need more NOT less single family zoning. The proposed elimination of R-1 zoning has been implemented in other cities without success. Furthermore, more density results in more pollution, more traffic, less living space for families with kids; not to mention the deleterious effect on our health and safety as well as the further defacing of our City landscape.
Question for the council members pushing for this draconian measure: WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR?

As proud of Culver City residents , We strongly oppose the decision of the elimination of R-1 single family Zoning.
This preposition should be eliminated . This Culver City single family area should continue the same way, and not full of buildings which we already have enough around us.

As a concerned citizen worried about over crowded cities and pollution, I am opposed to the idea of up zoning any portion of any city. Up zoning also leads to higher housing costs as demonstrated in cities around the world, including Vancouver, New York and Melbourne.

I am a long time Culver City resident - 2nd generation. This proposal will destroy the heart and soul of CC. CC is a beautiful community. I know people from when I was 5 years old. Why, because we've maintained our community, even when surrounded by Los Angeles. Single family homes are critical to our community. Don't destroy it. Thank you, Kathryn Cody

These are the oral comments I made to the City Council and Planning Commission on June 28. I have lived in Culver City since 1986, currently residing in Blair Hills. I am the former elected City Treasurer and appointed Planning Commissioner.
We need to face the inconvenient truths about the upzoning push.
It's a developer's dream.
It WILL desecrate neighborhoods, in an unplanned way.
It WILL destroy chances for generational wealth, especially for POC.
It WILL deceive the vulnerable into believing it's an answer to affordable housing.
It WILL destabilize our democracy, with shape shifting proposals backed by outside special interests, uncited data and non-peer reviewed studies by students.
It WILL decimate community trust that our elected officials abide by the concerns of their constituents.
What it will NOT do is dampen our resolve to bring this debate out into the open. Upzoning asks us to dismantle our communities. It is a breathtaking ask and the burden of proof is on the proponents. The burden has not been met, not even close.
