Culver City Council: Do not eliminate R1/single-family zoning in Culver City.

Leave the single homes alone. There is so much land that you can build multi homes on. Why ruin Culver City with the the way that it has now. I was born and raised in Culver City and have a home and live here for 53 years. I stayed in Culver City because of the wonderful city it is. To damage our wonderful city is a crime. Leave the single homes alone. Build multi buildings in places that are geared for multi units. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING TO RUIN OUR CLASSY CITY.

I am definitely against the change of zoning.

Eliminating existing R1/Single Family zoning in residential neighborhoods to make way for multi-level multi-unit apartments, condos and town homes DOES NOT CREATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING, it creates density and congestion issues in existing neighborhoods. Building affordable higher density apartments and condominiums in areas that can accommodate larger projects is a more efficient way to reach the state mandated allowance for growth. Multi-level residential over retail in a commercial zone is a much better use of Culver City's space and resources.

I want to continue to live in Culver City as is now. We have great neighborhood where we knew each other. I am definitely against the change of zoning.

You’re wrecking Culver City- it’s going to become a big town with big problems. You are also making it harder for senior citizens to survive. Do you want to put the seniors of the city on the streets?

I do not want a monstrosity built next to my house. Sorry.

Let's take a thoughtful, justice-oriented approach to affordable housing; zoning is but one piece of the puzzle, and this would open the door (further) for developers to come in and build multi-unit housing complexes that will continue to be unaffordable to most people.

Converting single family homes into multiple unit luxury housing units only benefits investors who will not live here and therefore have no stake in the quality of our neighborhoods and our lives. The proof of that is in the conversions the City Council has already approved. The petition spells it out very clearly. Our city needs more thoughtfully considered affordable housing. The wealthy already have plenty of recently built luxury housing to chose from. In addition to taking the "easy way out", one has to wonder what the City Council members who are pushing for this will get out of it, since clearly it is not the addition of affordable housing.

Our City is over crowded now. Even in single family neighborhoods streets are congested. We now allow conversion of garages to dwelling units. Enough is enough. Don't eliminate R-1 zoning

My R2 neighborhood sees only the bulldozing of existing single family homes for development of oversized mansions. This idea is beyond infantile and naive as a solution to affordable housing. The statistics support a very different narrative to that of "progressive City Council members" who continue to prove themselves as feckless, as they aspire to higher elected office.

I'd like to keep the healthy & peaceful residential environment of our single-family community.

The housing crisis is a problem in need of a solution but this is not it!

This is sooooo WRONG in every way. Come on Culver City!!! You are so much better than this. I left Santa Monica 23 yrs ago to buy a home here and become part of a true community. Our single family neighborhoods are what make CC so special and wonderful for raising a family et al. Housing shortage!? BULL!!! It’s called GREED!!! Don’t do this to your already heavily taxed citizens of this community. We are good people who work hard, take great pride in our neighborhoods, and want things to remain that way. This issue was specific to me buying my home....Single family zoning. (I also wasn’t in the flight path, which was important to me... but THAT changed without warning or care.) I have been a home owner here for 23 yrs and have paid my due tax... every one of them...every time... on time. I have been a business owner here for 23 yrs, rented my studio locally from a longtime CC resident, and have created jobs as well. We deserve BETTER than these creepy back door dealings. Do what’s right and stand w US.....Your neighbors and tried and true constituents!

the reason i moved here 2 1/2 years ago was to get away from the crowded areas where there were too many people living in too many buildings. culver is one of the last hometown cities we have.

Eliminating R1 zoning will not fix this issue. There are a multitude of new apartment buildings with rent ridiculously high that aren’t currently full. Culver City doesn’t want to be Los Angeles. Part of the charm of this city is the neighborhoods. As stated in this petition, there are other options.

Additional thought on home values. I’m assuming that those now working in the area at HBO, APPLE, AMAZON and GOOGLE etc.. are under 30 and would eventually want to live where they work. What kind of homes, schools and community would they buy their first home in. YES culver! These are multi-raced diverse future residents. Image how great the next baby boomer tech family will do for our city. They want the American dream- yard, dog and BBQ!
