R1/Single family zoning must stay as we need to preserve family friendly neighborhood residences. The problem in Culver City is the lack of available land in the coveted westside. We are long-time residents living here for over 40 years. It used to be a sleepy bedroom community and we need to preserve the feel of belonging. The elimination of the R1 zoning would destroy the "homey" feel so important to make the residents take pride.

The earliest zoning laws originated with the Los Angeles zoning ordinances of 1908. It has a long history. It has its purpose. Please keep R1 zoning to avoid unintended consequences.

While I applaud the goal of creating much more affordable housing in Culver City, it doesn't seem fair to punish the homeowners who have worked hard and paid much to make the city a desirable place to live. I can't imagine having a four unit monstrosity next to the modest home we raised our children in. Let's work for better ways!

Culver city should remain a multi zoned city with single family housing separate from multi family housings. The proposal will not provide low income housing that is required. There is a place for both but not on the same block inside a neighborhood not near a thoroughfare.

Do not eliminate R1 housing in Culver City. I agree with J. Melvin's comments: Changing to R4 will certainly add more housing and more crowding but it doesn't assure affordable housing. Let's keep Culver City's varied zoning and look into real solutions for affordable housing.

As a home owner in Blair Hills, I wish to add my comments (probably echoing already posted sentiments). The big issue is: no new residents can afford to own homes in Culver City unless they are wealthy or have two high paying incomes. Only we older people can keep our homes for a while, and then the city will be "gentrified" beyond most people's means, just as it already has become beyond the means of many (all?) of our first responders. I just checked out home's value (very high), and then the value for one town houses in a 3-unit lot on Duquesne. That town home sold for the same amount as the valuation of our home, even with our garden and land. So all of these rezoning efforts would add density while doing nothing for affordability. THIS IS CONTRARY TO THE MISSION - AS I UNDERSTAND IT - OF THE CURRENT CITY COUNCIL. Please go back to the drawing board and try to address the real issues here. Do not continue to support gentrification while downgrading green space between homes, truly a step backwards.

The only thing this will do for housing is produce more overpriced housing on small portions of land. It won't help all the people who lost housing through no fault of their own, This would be just one more mistake by the council.

Fifty + years living in CC, AND third generation living here. The REASON I still live here is because of the lifestyle - nothing else. The cities "livability" continues to degrade and allowing multi unit dwellings to replace single family homes on generally small "lots" (which is typical of nearly ALL lots in CC) is just "more of the same" from this city.

Please don't get rid of the R1 zoning in Culver City! These are some of its most unique, historic, and sustainable neighborhoods. It's unclear that this will add affordable housing and likely it will simply benefit developers to the detriment of neighborhoods.

"upzoning" is not a good solution for social issues. It creates environmental, social and health issues in a city with limited resources and public facilities.
