I have noticed this happening over the past ten to fifteen years. They clear out an area, wait a few years and then return. Loss of habitant with people having 'modern gardens' and the push for cramped housing with little or no backyards has also been a huge influence in the decline of small bird life.

Please think about the diversity of our native wildlife, these little wrens were part of my childhood, rarely see them these days after invasions of the bigger birds and Indian miners

I had a thriving colony in my Leichhardt back yard, along with silver eye finches, that was decimated about 8 years ago. Didn’t connect that with the arrival of ravens, but can join the dots now. Pigeon population has also plummeted, no more swallows either. Heartbreaking
