Noise and Light control needed at Hulsey Yards.

The noise from pounding containers to dislodge them from the lifting devices has gone through the roof and starts at 4 AM. Some operators are better than others. More sleep time please!

To those who mention the yards were here before residents, please read the full petition and the following data as a point of clarification: First of all, you are correct only in reference to the occupancy change at Fulton Cotton Mills. The surrounding neighborhoods actually predate (or were built concurrent with) rail in Atlanta and most were well established long before the major redevelopment of the yards as an intermodal hub. Example: 1860's Reynoldstown (along with Georgia Railroad as a "T" intersection) ​​1880's Inman Park 1880's Fulton Mill Village (Cabbage Town) Hulsey yards area in history: 1890's Housing and Rail Adjacency can be seen in the area via Atlanta mapping documents ​1940's ​Only a Randall Brothers loading yard is documented in mapping documents in the area Please be aware that this petition addresses Hulsey Yard operations that changed in 2007-2008 and these changes resulted in an increase of noise and light pollution for all neighborhoods adjacent to the yards, not just the FCM lofts. I have lived in Inman Park for 31 years and in the recent years there is a noise like a motor continuously running all night almost every night now making it very difficult to sleep. This was not always the case and must be addressed.

I live immediately adjacent to the entrance and exit to the Hulsey Yard and the speed bump noise can be extreme, depending on the speed of the driver and the load. Empty containers at high speeds are the worst as the rear axle literally comes off the ground. There must be some way to remove the speed bumps and narrow this section such that drivers must crawl through it.

please close the yard or make them cease noise

This noise has got to stop.

I wonder if it's possible to petition a sound barrier for parts of the rail line that are bare? I think this would make a significant different 1. for safety because anyone can walk on to the rail line in some parts of town and 2. for noise disturbance.
