Greetings,
We CSI biology students do understand that it is within the school’s system and regulations to fulfill the requirements of a hybrid course, but MULTIPLE students have agreed that we do not feel comfortable nor safe to sit in person for the final examination especially with the new COVID variant uprising. In fact, an executive order has been passed December 3rd, whereby the state is declared to be in a “State of Emergency”. Under such circumstances, we do not see it benefiting to be exposed to an infectious virus and put our health at risk for the sake of an exam that can be completed online, just as it has been for the past couple semesters. We do appreciate your hard work of seeing us become successful students and for holding us at your best interest. Thank you.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the number of students who have reached out to share their own concerns and stories. It is clear that we are all feeling the same anxiety about the health risks involved in this exam. I am currently working on putting together a formal request to the administration based on the points you all have raised.

This is outrageous. Switching the final to in person only affects the students in a negative way. Wouldnt you rather your students be comfortable and not have to worry about putting their families lives in danger. The holidays are right around the corner, a time where families come together. This may be the worst idea the board has had in the last 20 years. A true abomination.
This is tremendously unfair I come from a large Italian family I have 9 relatives over the age of 75 living in my home and they want to put them at risk like this! Keep up the fight my brethren let’s stop this injustice
We shouldn’t have to choose between our health and having to take an incomplete for a class we worked so hard on all semester
I want to take the exam online because I’m not comfortable to attend an in person final with this new variant
It doesn’t make sense to take a final in person when you can take it online just as well. With NY going into a state of emergency would it make sense to bring 200 students in one room and risk the chance of infection and outbreak. We must do our best to stop the spread of Omicron and taking an in person final will not help.

I have elderly relatives who I care for. Why am I risking my life and their’s for a final that can be held online? This is ridiculous and an abuse of power. You are putting us all at risk! Everyone other university and class is online!
