Final supporters
We believe the Computer Systems Architecture Lab and Lab report should not count towards our final module grade for the following reasons:
- the lab had no relation to the course material
- the lab script was unclear and did not improve understanding of the lab or course material
- instructions were missing from the lab scripts which meant that students could not progress without having it individually corrected by the two demonstrators
- too few demonstrators meant that not all the class had the opportunity to complete the lab due to unclear instructions
- an extra lab was only put on during the busiest coursework week
- additional lectures to support the lab were too late
- computers were repeatedly set up incorrectly, causing students delays over an hour
- studentsdidn'tunderstand the lab therefore cannot write about it in a report
- lab report was set after the end of the lab series so students couldn’t prepare during the labs
- Success in the lab was random and was not based on understanding or level of preparationMore like this

In the first lab, our board had a problem which we didnt realise that required a hardware reset. However, this meant that it delayed us so much that we have been trying to catch up ever since. NO WHERE IN THE COURSE DESCRIPTION DID IT DESCRIBE A DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB IN COMPUTER SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE
This easily has to be the most confusing lab I've done, I have gained nothing from it and it wasn't organised properly.
I absolutely agree with this. I have not been able to spend any time doing my other coursework because I am spending all of my time trying to understand this- and I still understand nothing!!! I am very concerned with this module. This is the first time I have ever complained about a module.
