I have created this petition on behalf of a family member; April Howard.
April is my Aunt and due to the breakdown of her marriage, of which her ex husband Nick Howard admitted all fault she has now been made homeless via Croydon Council. April Howard suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, has various Health issues and is vulnerable. It should be noted that she was a tenant of Croydon Council before she met her now ex husband. She is currently staying with a friend until Croydon Council rehouse her. She is over 100 miles from her family and friends in Bournemouth.
As of the 19th April 2010, Croydon Council have declined April Howard's request to be rehoused leaving her potentially homeless at any point within the foreseeable future.
April's family have tried at various lengths to help her situation however it is impractical for most to house April on a permanent, long term basis. We love her very much and it causes us all great pain to see her in this situation.
Please help us help her, by signing this petition.
Thank you for your time and thoughts.
Regards,
Gemma Redfern, on behalf of April Howard.
The volume of support has now reached a bracket that commands formal attention from local officials. I am currently finalizing a briefing document to be hand-delivered to the Croydon Council housing committee office later this week.

Total disgrace. Being over 100 miles away from support networks makes recovery impossible. Give her a place to live!

Ridiculous treatment. She needs her family nearby for support. Croydon council really need to reconsider this decision ASAP.

This is just awful. How can the council turn their back on someone so vulnerable, especially someone who has lived in the area before? Sort it out.
