While Van Cortlandt is listed as one of the largest parks in NYC, the lack of a connection between the eastern and western portions really means the park is divided and not as big as it seems. One, if not many bridges over the Major Deegan will go a long way to change that for the better.

Times up. Build the bridge! Billions over budget on the filtration plant we didn't want or need, and nothing for our park. Where's the respect?

I am hopeful that mayor DeBlasio and the state assembly will expedite the pedestrian bridge project to link Van Cortlandt Park east and west for pedestrians. What a difference it would make!

When will the string of broken promises and the unequal allocation of resources end?

The Bronx has an impressive collection of public parks that are just as important to our community as Yankee Stadium, but don't have the same recognition and therefore don't get the resources they need. If NYC can afford to hype a Super Bowl that won't even be played within the city, why don't we have the money for a more unified parks system, that would be available indefinitely to all residents?

This bridge not only benefits the park and those that use it - but the whole community surrounding the park will benefit. The bridge will bring an infusion of life to the Bronx and elevate Van Cortlandt to a hiking venue unmatched in our city. This is good for the Bronx and good for our neighborhood. Please support this effort!

We need pedestrian connections such as this. In fact I didn't even know we could get to the Old Croton Aqueduct. Nature is important to our spirit, especially for city dwellers. If this was part of the original deal, do the right thing and be your word.

The continuity of the Croton Aqueduct trail is an important historical necessity. New Yorkers in 100 years will thank us for having been visionary enough to see the need for a quiet, off-road path in a busy and increasingly densely built up world.

The Old Croton Aqueduct should be a highlight on Van Cortlandt Park, the Bronx and New York. With the High Bridge soon to open there will be much more attention on the Croton Aqueduct Trail and the Pedestrian Bridge is essential to make this trail viable in New York City.

The reclamation boom started by the High Line and continuing with the High Bridge can bring untold tourist revenue to The Bronx. This bridge will pay for itself many times over. It is foolish not to build it.

The pedestrian bridge is much needed. The Croton Aqueduct is a fantastic trail. We should be able to continue walking on it but coming from Van Cortlandt Park it ends at the Major Deegan. We need the bridge in order to continue enjoying the trail.

Enough time has passed, please build this bridge already. Where are the funds from the intrusive filtration plant project we were promised?
