Irvington is a family-friendly historic neighborhood to more than 11,000 residents and home to a number of independently-owned restaurants and retail businesses. Throughout the year, several festivals are also held in the community that allow friends and neighbors to come together however, we’ve all been there before: standing on Washington Street cars speed past and you try in vain to dash across the street: a high stakes game of chicken. Rather than forcing drivers and pedestrians to play chicken, a marked crosswalk would benefit pedestrians by directing them to a preferred pedestrian crossing location.
