The credit bureaus are not for the consumer they are for the large corporations, in they hold the ticket which allows lending firms to charge outrages interest rates. How is that good credit is worth only 28 days and bad credits stays for a minimum of seven years. I believe the US government should step in and bring some light to the fact many Americans are being unreasonably charge high interest rates. The federal government should look into the firms, investigate them and help protect its citizens of what I consider credit bureau abuse. I should add we as consumers do not have access to the out own file without charge. Also, the credit bureaus have said websites where individuals can monitor their credit. My question is for what? If the protection consumers need is protection from the credit bureaus and lenders who have every right to report derogatory comments, plus collection companies who should never be there in the first place. The way credit bureaus calculate consumer credit worthiness is built to not give the consumer a chance to make positive changes. Such as good credit is only if you have account open for more than 4 years. For some who is rebuilding credit they have a long road ahead and the mean while lending companies are banking on the high interest rates.
