CPS Students For Change in Start and End Times

Students leaving school at 4:30pm will be commuting in the dark during the winter months. Let's put the safety of our students first!

I do not support the later start and end times. Both of my kids commute a long distance on public transportation and doing so at a later time will make that process take longer and be more unsafe during those winter months when it will be dark earlier. In addition, my kids have after school commitments that would be made very difficult to continue with the later dismissal time.

I am opposed to the new start times at CPS

I agree with the other parents. I am sure there are other "rational" cost containing measures that CPS can take while still providing excellent education and opportunities.

This will lessen the time my daughter will spend with us. She will not be able to do volunteer work outside of school. It will also be a burden for the kids to be on the same commute hours with office workers.

Please keep the earlier start time for WPCP school. It is safer and better for extracurricular activities.

Please keep the 8am start time. I can't take my daughter to school and get to work on time if the start time is at 9am.

I oppose the later start time as it presents significant challenges to safe transportation and extra-curricular activities. Even worse is the inequity of imposing these challenges on certain HS students and not others. CPS should be in the business of reducing challenges for students, not creating them.

Please turn back the school start time to 8am

This change will affect our family as a whole.

I support Payton's earlier start and end time.

This proposed change is very hard on students and families. CPS needs to think through the impact it would have on student safety and on competitions with students from other schools and districts.

This is unacceptable and bad for the students.

I do not believe the start time should change for Payton students. This would put an undue hardship on our daughter as well as family.

Changing the Payton start and end time would prove harmful to our scholar-athlete's school-life balance and would create a transportation dilemma as she would be forced to ride the CTA late in the evening.

I strongly oppose a delayed start time, especially if not ALL CPS HS follow suit. A later start and dismissal time will wreak havoc on extra-curricular activities and the block schedule (which is part of what makes Payton special)

Changing the school day is detrimental to my daughters safety and well being.
