I was at the march on June 15th. The police presence there was total overkill. At one point, an officer in an SUV drove right up behind several of us slammed on his horn repeatedly, drowning-out the chants from the protestors. It's insane to continue policing the way it's currently done.

This is an important measure to protect our neighbors from overreaching and brutal police. We need CPAC for the 39th ward!

Policing is complex, and, we can’t allow for the possibility of entrenched cultures and interests within our police force to have the final say in how the community is policed.

As a resident of the 33rd ward directly adjacent to yours, I think it is imperative that you act in favor of democracy, transparency, justice, and equity for my neighbors down the street and throughout our city by sponsoring CPAC. Give the power back to the people and ensure that police accountability is guaranteed.

Of the two ordinances being considered, CPAC is the only one that represents real change. The GAPA ordinance, since it places no power of any kind in the hands of civilians, represents more of the same.

Black Lives Matter. Support CPAC now. Maybe next Monday evening will be a more convenient time for you to receive the message.
“The 39th Ward office is located at 4200 West Lawrence Avenue. I encourage you to stop by for Ward Night every Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is no need for an appointment at Ward Night as we meet on a first come-first served basis.”

We need real democratic accountability, not another advising council that can be overruled by the mayor.

I am a constituent living near Kimball and Carmen, and I am outraged that Ald. Nugent has not signed on to cosponsor CPAC. It seems she only cares about the comfortable, privileged , middle class white neighbors that aren't targeted and brutalized by the police. Sign on to CPAC now!

CPAC is the first step toward accountability. Don't just sign a petition, join a rally and talk to your friends, family and neighbors about CPAC.

I live in the bordering 33rd ward. Taking funding away from policing and putting it towards services would make both wards safer.

GAPA isn't sufficient for police accountability. We should be defunding the police and bringing those resources to wellness in our community. CPAC is a tiny step toward the fight against police brutality and overfunding and over protection.
