To whom it may concern, We respectfully request that you reconsider your decision to move the Homecoming Dance from Friday after the game to Saturday evening. As long as we can remember the dance has always been the next day and there have never been any problems at the dance. A few of the reasons we believe the dance should remain on Saturday evening include: Some people, especially those who are involved in the game, including players, cheerleaders, students who clean up after or work at the games, may not be able to attend due to the time constraints. Should we lose the game, people may not enjoy themselves as much. If we win the game, people will be hyped up on adrenaline, which often causes behavioral problems. People will have to either skip the game to get ready for the dance or come dirty directly from the game lowering attendance at both. When people take time to make themselves look better, they tend to act better. If the game runs too late, the dance might not even happen and attendance will be negatively affected by the date change. We, as students and parents believe that this is an important part of the high school experience. Everyone talks about getting involved with the school, attending more after school events, etc. and the dance is an important part of the entire Homecoming experience. It is a great way to spread school spirit and will work better for everyone involved in the long run if the dance is held on Saturday, as usual.
