coventry libraries recently put in place an extended daily ammount 6 weeks ago for pc use in their libraries, from 1 and a half hours to 2 hours and 15 minutes, the reason was to assist mainly the unemployed with job applications, benefit applications etc. the truth is coventry libraries are a strong financial player with big profits, but are not prepared to spend any money on monitoring that the generous time is being used for the purpose its being meant to be.. in the meantime the libraries here city wide across the network are getting clogged up at busy times of the day with increased waiting times to use the pc service. hence the sytem is flawed, hasnt been thought through and is just being subject to abuse. this is wrong and the directorates need to be held accountable for this. i feel the cities jobclubs, jobcentre etc in our city need to be playing a bigger role in supporting the unemployed where at least they will be monitored and checked in theire offices, instead of just potentially playing internet games on 2 hour grids in our libraries and causuing queues!!! what do you think?
