This happened to our family many years ago when a car plunged into a 30 ft pond with 2 small children who drowned. Pictures of one of the children who poured out of the car when one door was opened as the car was being pulled from the car were displayed all over every news channel before the whole family was notified of this terrible tragedy. But I think the worst part was as the end of the year approached that small news footage was broadcasted many times because it won a news "award". Can you imagine winning an award because the picture displayed such raw footage of a death of a child I was appalled and I too called the news channel and was told "it's our first amendment, freedom of the press". How sad to express ones freedom all because of a child's death.

This is a violation of privacy. No news story is worth the heartache of seeing it on FB. Responsible journalism would prevent this.

I think you are doing a great thing Lauren! Your sister would be very proud of you! No one should have to find out something bad by seeing it on the news or FB first! I support you 100% RIP Courtney! Continued prayers for you and your family!

My prayers are with her family and friends no one should have to suffer so badly and find out something so tragic from a picture on the computer I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope this law passes for everyone who has ever had to go through this.
