I thought the purpose of your councilman was to help his district not the opposite. His bill if passed will directly effect other districts also. What purpose does he have to put folks out of business and destroy the wedding plans of folks that have already committed to having their wedding at these historic homes.

This bill would clearly negatively effort thousands of wedding vendors and there has been no effort put in to try other alternatives before resulting in closing venues

This proposal to exclude outdoor activities at Nashville's historic venues just doesn't make any sense. I toured a few of these venues when planning for my upcoming wedding and the outdoor atmosphere and beauty is generally unmatched. Most, if not all, of the venues and historic homes affected by this already have contracts in place to preserve the historic nature of the property and ensure that any noise or music is ending within city noise pollution guidelines. Without a clear and valid reason for suggesting this proposal, I can only see this as damaging local Nashville businesses, taking away from the Nashville economy, and forcing people organizing weddings and gatherings to look outside of our great city for another venue.

Dumb, dumb, dumb! What would this do our city if this happened? Do you realize the money this brings in for the city of Nashville? Most of these weddings and events are destinations where the guests come and stay all weekend and spend money in Nashville. Plus, think of all Nashville vendors you would affect. This is wrong.

Would hate to see such a great venue hindered by this bill. They are very aware of their neighbors at Riverwood and even enforce a decibel limit on events.

This is ridiculous! We are hair and make up artists averaging 30 weddings a year at these Venues. This directly effects all the vendors and our bottom line.

This is one of the more ridiculous proposals I've heard in a long time. The fact that we are able to preserve and enjoy historical locations around Nashville is one of the things I love about the city. To take this away is a huge mistake. Not only that, but it takes away a lot of incentive for business owners to preserve and invest in these precious locations, that the government does not have funding to do. Absolutely absurd.

What I don't understand is "why? " Is the public's safety at risk? Is there some sort of danger here or was this ordinance passed in order to have more business go to companies instead of private historic home owners? If that were the case, this ordinance would be a crooked one. The government needs to have the public's safety and best interests at heart; not give in to lobbyists and bribery.

In the original time of their creation, I am sure these historic homes used their outdoor spaces to host events when weather permitted. Currently, many historic homes use caution for indoor events based on the type of furniture and decor inside, however outdoor events do not cause damage to historical furnishings -- And they do not take away from the importance of these historical landmarks! If anything the local interest in these buildings and their outdoor grounds causes further celebration of our rich history here in Nashville, not to mention the interest of the people who travel across the country to host or attend events at a Nashville historic home's outdoor space. These types of events do not take away from or harm the beauty of these special place -- it enhances it.
This would be a huge lose for the middle Tennessee area.
