To the respected PM of India, Sir Narendra Modi,
This is to address you about the things that's going around recently in our country. As a common fact, you know that we northeasterns look more Asian & Mongoloid from the rest of the Indians which has been the main reason of racism towards us in the country since the beginning.
Although this is not a new thing, as we northeasterns have always been suffering from ill treatment, inappropriate eve teasing, discrimination, racism, etc, and even raised out our voices in many such incidences, but it's so common in India that it has now become a chain. We do not want to deal with this through violence, or any other actions that might encourage more violence or rage. And so we do not believe that fighting against them in public would help us in any way or make any difference.
Recently we are suffering from the unfortunate pandemic (COVID) all over the world, and since the time it started affecting our country, we northeasterns have been facing a different kind of racism from our own people. Being called out Chinki or Corona to start with, and being discriminated & treated like a trash next, even abused in public, etc. I'm not sure if you have seen any cases of such recently, but I promise you sir, there has been a lot going around from different different parts of the country. There are different posts, videos, images, etc on social media, of the Northeastern Indians being discriminated or even physically abused. And like any other citizen of India, we would like to appeal to you to please do something about it. All of us as human beings are suffering and fighting against the same situation (pandemic) right now, and so being racist towards us is not going to help.
We would be looking forward for you to take an action towards it, and though it might not be the end, it would still make a difference in educating the rest of the Indians, about their outlook towards the Northeastern Indians.
