The news arrived this morning that the investigation is underway and the specific use of tasers is being restricted. I am honestly stunned by the outcome and remain completely humbled by your commitment to this cause. This change belongs to all of you who spoke up, but we will keep …

Acting Chancellor Norman Abrams University of California, Los Angeles Murphy Hall 2147 Los Angeles, CA 90095 Contact: [email protected] To UCLA Acting Chancellor Norman Abrams, We the undersigned, members of the Cornell University Community, wish to join in solidarity with the students of UCLA in condemning the actions of UCLA UCPD on the night of November 14, 2006. The conduct of the officers involved, including repeated tasering of an unarmed student, threatening witnesses with similar brutality, and disregarding the vocal concerns of both Mostafa Tabatabainejad and the witnesses merits disciplinary action. The extent of force used against unarmed UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad was highly inappropriate. For this reason we support a thorough and unbiased investigation of the incident. In addition to supporting such an investigation, we call for a reevaluation of taser use as well as strong censure for the officers involved. Students should not be made to fear the people who are charged to protect them. Resolved.

I have been reading through the comments you are leaving and the stories of what happened on that night are heartbreaking. It truly humbles me to see people coming together like this just because it is the right thing to do. Please know that your words are being seen and they are carrying much more weight than I ever could on my own.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained lately. This movement belongs entirely to the people who took the time to speak up for justice. None of this would be happening without the compassion you have all shown.
