I recently tried to attract a large scientific conference with approx. 450 delegates to Cork. This idea was rejected by the conference organising committee because Cork was seen as not easily accessible to international delegates.

Berlin is one of the cultural capitals of Germany, renowned for its dedication to developing and expanding the arts. Cork, with its exhilarating passion for all the arts, be it performance, theatre, music etc., is a place where these talents are nurtured, by both people in Cork and Berlin. Please consider reinstating the Cork-Berlin route.

Cork's economic and cultural and intellectual life suffers severely under the yoke of travel restrictions imposed on its citizens in recent years, especially through the loss of continental flight connections (also due to the collapse of the Cork-Dublin route). Living in Cork as an internationally connected professional/academic agent, feels today like being banished to Siberia.

Beyond my personal interest in the reinstatement of a direct flight (Berliner working in UCC, tick-tacking several times a year), I know of many academic staff in UCC who do field/class trips to Berlin on a regular basis. Having to go through Dublin every time takes away half a day each way (or half the night on return, affecting the following working days).

More evidence of downgrading of Cork Airport, continuous pulling away of flights to major cities in Europe, like Berlin.With a third runway due to be built at Dublin airport.the eroding of flights from Cork will continue Let's end Dublin monopoly over Cork.
