Why "Canadian"? Is this a National Brand? Will it have franchisees all over Canada? Is it English/French? Why not to be more local such as "Ontario Church" or "K-W Church"? Or, "For English Speaking Only"?

Abouna’s request to fill an application to join St. Maurice is outrageous. I might be asked to apply to join a political party or the gym not the church. Joining the church is through faith and baptism. On legal basis, St. Maurice is owned by the congregation of St. Mary. The board is legally obliged to call for an assembly meeting to vote for selling St. Maurice to Abouna’s new congregation. We love Abouna very much and all of us has to continue praying for him and for the unity of the church. Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. We will need to be all one unity, praying together, helping, supporting and accepting each other. My God loves everyone regardless!!!

I am 15 years old and a Canadian born, praying in Coptic, Arabic and English are all wonderful languages and never bothered me. Also we are call the COPTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH it would make no sense if we took "Coptic" out of our name. Coptic is the foundation of the church, it was built upon the love and true faith of our ancestors. Praising God in Coptic is like praying with the angels in heaven. You will never experience the true joy until you praise the Lord in Coptic.

Also, the fact that you don't get "offended" when other people are allowed to enjoy prayers in other languages, demonstrates "love" which is the top virtue in Christianity ... " God is love" 1 John 4:8 & 16. Personally, I don't get offended when I go to a church & the prayers are in a different language than the one I got used to. We are smart enough to realize that it's not a language prolem that we have here, we are lacking some serious Christian virtues that we need and have to acquire.

I agree. We can't be a coptic orthodox church if we don't speak cpotic or include coptic in our litergies/prayers. Coptic is our identity. I am 12 and can't speak fluent arabic but it doesn't bother me.

I'm not in favor of any division of any sort . Arabic is part of our identity even the kids of 2nd or 3rd generation shouldn't be deprived of their right to learn Arabic. The Greek Orthodox church, the Serbian Orthodox Church , and the Romanian Orthodox church all pray in their own languages with little to no English in the church ! even though they have 1st,2nd,3rd, and even 4th generation people but yet they are preserving their languages, heritage, and identities. They have no problem teaching their kids their mother tongue. it's not about English, Arabic, or even French it's about staying together we are worried about portion of the church members that won't understand anything but English, but meanwhile there is a bigger portion that stay throughout the service not understanding anything other than beshafa3t waladet el eilah but they remain members with full devotion !, I'm in support of praying in both languages with equality to gain the interest and the engagement of both parties in a ONE church with no tiers or preferences .

It's very hard to move a tree leaving its roots behind, it will be wiped away! Despite how anyone feels about Arabic, it is a gift when people know more than one language. Forcing the new generation to forget arabic is just closing doors in front of them and they will be deprived of many great spiritual resources for no reason!!

Let us build a church of English love, not a church of a Arabic/Coptic language :-)

Totally disagree with splitting church into a primary church and a secondary church Church is always one We are all one in Christ We all speak English and Arabic There is nothing wrong with praying using the 3 languages we know Marie Wassif
