Convocation Reduction for Nursing Majors at Belmont University

Students in Belmont’s School of Nursing are in a particularly rigorous course load including multiple lectures, labs, and clinical making it difficult and unrealistic to require them to get as many hours as other less time demanding majors. We, the undersigned, are concerned that the convocation credits required from us are unreasonable due to our rigorous schedule. Some students are in clinical for 12 hour days making it impossible to go to convocation events, all students must pick up patient assignments prior to clinical requiring multiple hours to be reserved therefore making convocation events unable to be attended during those times, and many nursing classes are held during the peak times when events are held (particularly Monday and Friday mornings). We ask that it be considered that the requirement is cut down accordingly based on the time each student has left as a Belmont student.
